Developmental Intern Maintenance Tech

PRN/As Needed

Job Summary

Under the supervision of an experienced maintenance staff, the co-op maintenance tech will assist with a variety of tasks and learn essential skills to gain an understanding of how the building operates. This includes but not limited to: - Assisting with repairs, for example, patching, painting, and replacing items - Assisting with routine maintenance, for example, cleaning, dusting, and organizing the work area - Assisting with inspections, for example, routine inspections of the building and identifying potential problems - Learning about building systems, for example, operations of the building’s HVAC, plumbing, and electrical system - Learning about tools and equipment and how to use them safely and properly - Leaning communication and teamwork - Other duties the Maintenance manager might assign - Other duties the Maintenance Manger might assign

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Currently enrolled as a high school junior or senior OR High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred

Experience

None

Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations

None

Equipment, Tools, Work Aids

Approved hand tools and other equipment appropriate to the employee’s age, training, and assigned duties

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

Basic mechanical aptitude. Good communication skills. Ability to follow instructions. Strong work ethic and willingness to learn. Interest in learning of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC , and building and grounds maintenance. Ability to learn and follow safety procedures. Ability to work effectively with maintenance staff and other hospital employees.
