Job Summary
Collects specimens by venipuncture, arterial puncture, and capillary puncture. Collects and instructs patients in collection of drug screens, urine specimens, 24 hour urine specimens and stool specimens. Processes inpatient and outpatient specimens. Performs waived testing.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
High School diploma required. College courses in biology, chemistry and math preferred.
Experience
No experience required. Previous laboratory experience preferred.
Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations
Current BLS certification with The American Heart Association or The American Red Cross is required. If the employee does not have a current certification in BLS, one must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment.

Computer terminal, calculator, glucose meter, centrifuge, ID Now instruments
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Aptitude for science. Medical terminology. Must be able to work under pressure with frequent interruptions and time constraints. Must be able to distinguish colors. Must be able to stand for long periods of time, to stoop and bend and walk frequently from one area of the hospital to another. Must have good hand eye coordination and visual acuity. Must be able to memorize specimen collection requirements and certain procedures.
