Support Groups

UAB Medicine – Russell Medical Cancer Center understands that going through the diagnosis and treatment of cancer is a trying time for patients and their families. Our support groups are designed to help address the physical and emotional aspects of dealing with a cancer diagnosis.

For meeting dates and additional information on these support groups, please contact the Enrichment Services office at 256-329-7145.

T.O.U.C.H. (Today Our Understanding of Cancer is Hope)

T.O.U.C.H offers support to cancer survivors, their family and loved ones. This is a community-lead group that provides a time for patients and their families to share their experiences in a safe and comfortable environment. Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month from noon to 1:00 p.m. in the Community Room of the Professional Building at Russell Medical.

Look Good…Feel Better!

Cancer can rob a woman of her energy, appetite and strength. But it does not have to take away her self confidence. Look Good…Feel Better is a free workshop that teaches beauty techniques to women in active treatment to help them combat the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment.

Additionally,  Reach to Recovery is an American Cancer Society sponsored support program for breast cancer patients. For more than 45 years, Reach to Recovery volunteers have been trained to offer understanding, support and hope because they themselves have survived breast cancer.
