Athletic Trainer (FT)

Job Summary:
Coordinate injury prevention programs and rehabilitation efforts for selected schools, colleges and community sports programs. Coordinates with the PT/OT department to provide treatment and rehabilitation of athletes. Liaison between designated team physician, athletic director, coaching staff, RMC Therapy and other RMC departments. Supervise student athletic trainers, equipment managers and school assistants.. Promote athletic and sports safety in the community and assist Sports Medicine Coordinator with implementation and monitoring of quality improvement and management activities.

Minimum Qualifications:
EDUCATION: B.S. or B.A. in Athletic Training, Exercise, Sports or related field.

EXPERIENCE: New Graduate clinical experience. Prefer extended work related experience in same field.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR REGISTRATIONS: Current Licensure by Alabama Board of Athletic Training, NATA Certified. Valid Alabama driver’s license, Current Advanced First Aid Certificate issued by the American Red Cross. Current BLS or BLS within 90 days of hire required. BWR and/or ARC Lifeguard within 180 days of hire, Access to a licensed and registered vehicle.

EQUIPMENT, TOOLS, WORK AIDS: Office machines, hand tools, diagnostic equipment, physical therapy equipment/machines, athletic equipment and training room equipment and supplies.

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Knowledge of basic principles of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, nutrition, diet and first aid. Knowledge of symptoms and treatment for athletic injuries. Knowledge of physical fitness, hygiene and safety procedures related to athletic programs. Knowledge of safety and protective equipment used in sports. Knowledge of taping, bandaging and physical therapy techniques. Knowledge of general principles of supervision and training. Good interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.

Full Time with benefits
80 hours per pay-period with varied hours
