The Navigation Facilitator plays a critical role in ensuring timely and appropriate patient care within our Cancer Center by securing prior authorizations and verifying benefits for a variety of complex cancer treatments and for patients served through the Total Cancer Care Program who are not yet assigned to a Cancer Center physician. This position requires a strong clinical foundation coupled with exceptional organizational and communication skills to effectively navigate the intricate landscape of healthcare insurance and reimbursement.
Full Time with benefits
Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE: At least three years in a healthcare setting, preferably in oncology
LICENSES, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR REGISTRATIONS: Certification as a Medical Assistant or licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse preferred but not required
EQUIPMENT, TOOLS, WORK AIDS: Computer, electronic health record, Microsoft Office, health insurance provider portals, NCCN treatment guidelines, vital signs monitor, laboratory software applications, hematology analyzer
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Demonstrated understanding of cancer treatment modalities, medical terminology and health insurance concepts
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to resolve clinical and scheduling/insurance coverage challenges
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
ability to interact effectively with diverse populations
Computer/software proficiency
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Attention to detail and organizational skills
