RN Recovery (PACU) PRN

Under the direction of the charge nurse the PACU staff nurse provides total nursing care for PACU patients according to established standards of care and hospital policy and procedure. Possesses knowledge and skill necessary to provide care appropriate to age of patients served.

Department: Seven operating rooms + a C-section room on the third floor. Average around 250 cases per month, with about 85%- 90% being outpatient procedures. We do all surgical specialties except, cardiac, neuro, or plastics. Most common procedures: gallbladder, hernia, c-section, knee scopes, ENT procedures, cystoscopes. We do total joints; knees, hips, and some shoulders.

a. Current licensure as an RN in Alabama
b. Current CPR certification.
c. ACLS and PALS within one year of hire date.
d. Six months to one year related experience is strongly preferred.
Ability to read and comprehend detailed instructions, correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple and complex correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to patients, patient family members, visitors and other organization personnel.
Ability to add and subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed and complex written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a multiple combination of concrete variables in standardized situations.
Flexible in work schedule, assignments, and work load.
Ability to understand and follow the policies and procedures of Russell Medical and regulatory agencies’ standards and rules.

PRN Employment: As needed according to the department, hours will vary as needed during normal hours 7:30am-4:00pm
